Carnival Collectors and the Memory Machine

Fit to Burst was commissioned by UKCCA to make a show for children as part of the HLF Carnival Archive Project. The show was performed to 200 school children at the Deco Theatre in Northampton.

Carnival Collectors and The Memory Machine is a children’s show about the history of carnival. School children are invited to attend the Intergalactic Scientist’s Convention. Here eminent scientists the Carnival Collectors present their latest invention The Memory Machine and it’s amazing powers to collect and store carnival memories for all time. During their demonstration a glitch in the machine releases the memories inside transforming the scientists into carnival characters. Order will only be restored when the spirit of carnival has been released. The show explores traditional carnival themes of misrule, rebellion, celebration, humour, freedom and transformation.
